about me.
A love, understanding and knowledge of colour brought me my first commission in 1996. I was still studying Fine Art at Winchester School of Art then, and got on a train to the tiny Cornish port of Charlestown, which had been home to my client when he was a boy. Work on the Georgian cottage included a hand painted staircase and children’s nursery. More commissions followed in London and then Whitstable, Kent where I moved to live in 1998. I opened a studio there and took commissions for colour consultancy.
The environment has always been top of my list in life and work.
I like to encourage you to be brave with colour, but never push you to do something you are uncomfortable with.
I worked as a colour consultant for Farrow & Ball and am trained in their colour palette but also like to encourage the use of other lower impact paint manufacturers.
I love being based on the coast and swimming in the sea.
My most recent project has been to consult on a new scheme for a 1958 Camper & Nicholsons Marconi rigged classic wooden cruising yacht.
Covid-19 has led to requests to consult remotely; a very successful example of which has been for the antiquarian booksellers Marrin’s, an elegant Victorian townhouse in Folkestone (see Gallery).
