Transforming a shattered gallery window; a tiny installation reworked

What to do when you arrive at a gallery and the window has been vandalised.

This was a first response, without much thought - a workaround. I decided to just paint something beautiful, detract the eye away from the incident. Japanese cherry blossom strewn intermittently across the glass, and landing onto a plinth inside, making it 3 dimensional and fun.

What happened as a consequence, was a whole bunch of smiling faces, well wishers and curious children marvelling at the prospect of painting on a window and painting in a window. It became a performance, a thing to brighten someone’s day, stop passers by, make conversation and smile.
